Rookie of the Year

Ensuring teacher retention and recruitment is crucial for a robust education system. According to a 2003 study by the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future, nearly half of all beginning teachers leave the profession within five years. It’s imperative to provide mentoring, support, and recognition to new teachers during their initial years in education.

In our commitment to supporting educators, the Santa Rosa Education Foundation annually extends an invitation to every school in the Santa Rosa School District to nominate one teacher for the Rookie of the Year award. Eligible for this recognition are any classroom teachers in their third year or less of teaching, considering their total teaching experience, not restricted to Santa Rosa public schools. The Santa Rosa Education Foundation’s dedicated Rookie of the Year committee thoroughly reviews all nominations and selects an outstanding educator as the Santa Rosa Rookie of the Year each spring. Join us in acknowledging and supporting the promising talent that contributes to the future of education.
